Audrey is currently researching the function and evolution of protein allostery through the enzyme family of ribonucleotide reductase in the Ando Lab. Ribonucleotide reductase is an enzyme that is found in every organism that makes its own DNA, and is a target for anti-cancer and anti-bacterial pharmaceuticals. For this research, Audrey utilizes bioinformatic tools to statistically reconstruct ancestors of this enzyme family and combines this knowledge with structural methods such as cryo-electron microscopy and solution small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) to trace the evolution of the allosteric regulation of these enzymes, and compare to extant enzymes.
